Umbrella Day

Umbrella Day is in honor of one of the world's most invaluable inventions. On a rainy, day, we are sure glad that someone was smart enough to invent it. It's also increasingly popular to use umbrellas to shade ourselves from harmful UV radiation, and the heat of the sun.
Get out your umbrellas and go for a walk. If you do not have one , make this a Umbrella shopping day. Maybe buy a few in different styles!

Toothache Day

Not sure how this one started or where. But I would suggest you use this day to teach your children about cleaning their teeth and the importance of good oral hygiene. Maybe make a dentist appointment for this day!

Backwards Day

This looks like fun and all of the photos that I seen online for this holiday show kids wearing their clothing backwards and having their backs to the camera. I guess we can drive backwards and walk backwards today?

National Puzzle Day

January 29th is a National Puzzle Day! It honors puzzles of all size, shape and form. You may celebrate it alone or together with your friends. Though it still remains a puzzle itself who created this day and when. Maybe it was someone in a cold climate who stayed indoors doing puzzles.

Opposite Day

Opposite day is a day where you do and say things the exact opposite of what you usually do. I can remember when I was a kid in school and kids would wear their clothes backwards and stuff like that. It is a fun day.

Measure Your Feet Day

Celebrate today by measuring your feet. Both of them. Measure the length. Then, measure the width. For a little fun, see if you can measure someone else's feet. I do not know who created this day or why.

National Hugging Day

National Hugging Day was created in 1986 by Rev. Kevin Zaborney from Caro, Michigan. Strangely, this day is copyrighted. One would think that hugs should be given freely and without recourse. Regardless, we are thankful to the Reverend Zaborney for creating this day and would love to thank him with a big hug. What a great day! This is an opportunity to give and to receive. Give a hug, and you automatically receive one in return. Sure, someone might not hug back. But, how often does that happen!?!

Hugs are loving. Hugs are therapeutic. Hugs are caring. Hugs are celebratory. Hugs make you feel good inside. Have you ever received a hug from someone who didn't care? I didn't think so. That's proof positive that you're loved and cared about.

Celebrate today by giving hugs to family, friends and loved ones. You'll love the warm feeling you get.

National Nothing Day

January 16th is National Nothing Day. This un-event was created by newspaperman Harold Pullman Coffin. It was first observed in 1973. The goal of National Nothing Day is "to provide Americans with one national day when they can just sit without celebrating, observing, or honoring anything."
